Social Security Appointments
WAFLA has been working with the Social Security Administration (SSA) to help farmworkers receive Social Security Numbers more efficiently.
The following resources will help employers, workers, and the SSA process and receive Social Security cards for new H-2A workers.
To set up appointments for your workers, complete the following steps:
- Set up appointments with local Social Security staff.
- Watch the instructional video below.
- Ensure your workers have the required paperwork and documentation when they attend the appointment.
- Show up 15 minutes early for your appointment time(s).
Webinar Training
This webinar explains the process and the necessary paperwork to accompany the workers.
Below are several tips that will help make this process successful.
- Please ensure the Social Security application is completed online no more than 45 days from the Social Security appointment date.
- Workers must have the original and a copy of their I-94, visa, and passport.
- Workers must have the current I-94, not one from a previous season. If WAFLA members need help obtaining current I-94s for their workers, please notify your WAFLA account executive for assistance before the appointment.
- Workers' Social Security cards should be sent to their addresses in the United States to avoid unnecessary delays. For the requested address, provide the correct mailing address. If that mailing address is to a business, include "c/o the business name" in the address to ensure that the U.S. Postal Service does not reroute or return the letter.
- If employers/workers cannot make the scheduled appointment time, please notify Social Security Administration staff promptly.
